Ice Magic

This is an excerpt from the weekly News-Loveletter. If you would like it sent to your inbox directly (with all the other juicy bits, including a mini joy practice), you can add yourself to my mailing list here.

On a recent Saturday walk together, Seda and I stumbled into ice magic. There are all sorts of magic in the world — storm magic, mountain magic, love magic … the list goes on and on. The magic I experience is as infinite as my wonder. And it’s not “illusion” magic. As a matter of fact, it is just that — a matter of fact.

The wonders of the world are awe-inspiring when we take them in wholly, when we attune the beauty within us to the beauty beyond. The picture above is of a mud puddle. Think of that! The perfectly curved silver peninsulas, the hoary ice. Only in the photograph did I fully take in the tiny hairs rising from its surface. How delicate is nature, and how commanding.

What natural wonder has captured you this week? What view of the earth has been new and has stopped you in your tracks?
