It's a Set Up

This is an excerpt from the weekly News-Loveletter. If you would like it sent to your inbox directly (with all the other juicy bits, including a mini joy practice), you can add yourself to my mailing list here.

I primed this morning for abundance and easy flow. Even now, I can feel the smooth, buoyant joy of that. It's in a tickly feeling at the sides of my neck, a lightness in my jaw. My hair stands a little on end. Fun!

With priming, it's more important to dial in to the feeling than it is to imagine the specifics of how you want to see those feelings come to be. The specifics sometimes get in the way by triggering resistance ("I'll never actually get that!") or by getting us too much in our head. They can also lead to disappointment if the universe delivers something we don't expect.

I love a joyful surprise.

"Want a ride to get your bike?" Seda asks. I grab my helmet and a stepstool, preparing to leave for the bike shop. She raises an eyebrow.

"If we can stop at that apple tree along the way," I say. She winks and we load the van with apple crates and our climber upper.

I am a spectacle gathering windfall apples in my bright yellow helmet. Seda climbs onto the stool and picks the fruit from high above my head.

Clunk! An apple bounces from my helmet onto the soft grass. I bend to pick it up and another strikes my back, cushioned by a down vest. Seda and I giggle.

Quite by accident, I've worn the ideal apple picking attire. Or have I played a role in this serendipity?

Picking apples without getting bruised is certainly an easy flow of abundance. Surprise, surprise! My morning prime comes to mind. I celebrate getting to enjoy those feelings twice, then and now.

Does my entire day move with the easy flow of abundance? Well, it turns out my bike has not been repaired to my satisfaction. It's still waiting at the shop. Will I hold that hitch against my practice? Not at all. Who's to say there aren't more gifts in store within the flow of that next pickup?

I'm keeping my eyes peeled and finding gratitude for every delightful surprise that comes down the pike.

If you haven't yet picked up my free gratitude meditation, get it here. I love to practice with you.
