Holy Amaryllis!

This is an excerpt from the weekly News-Loveletter. If you would like it sent to your inbox directly (with all the other juicy bits, including a mini joy practice), you can add yourself to my mailing list here.

I thought I knew red. I thought I knew coral. But every day I learn more about what I don't know, and there's so much to be grateful for in that.

Amaryllis yawns her mighty petals open and swallows my attention whole. Her deep-throated blue-red captivates my eye. Look closer. Closer still.

I remove my glasses, eyelashes brushing her velvet petals. I cannot take down the barriers between us fast enough. That's how it is sometimes.

We think something's nice, we think it's pretty, and we go in for a closer look. But the world around us is so much more than nice or pretty. Every one of us—every one of you—is exquisite. Captivating. Just waiting for someone to remove their glasses and take a closer look.

Who might you see more fully today? In what ways might you allow others to see you?
