Cooking Cozy

In the days of early spring, icy mornings give way to sun-drenched afternoons. Whether I’m in the garden tending Earth or watching Crow through the window as I work, nothing is more welcome come dinner than a meal already made.
Seda and I spent the better part of a day chopping, assembling, and cooking down 3 pots of chili (vegetarian and meat) and collard greens to share with our son Sam for our dinner-and-a-movie night. This crusty skillet cornbread and sweet spicy soup set us up for the week. A few quarts even made it into the freezer to grace an early summer camping trip. (They function as ice blocks in the cooler for 2 days until they thaw.)
How are you making use of the tail-end of winter to prepare for summer’s happy mayhem? Are you enjoying the last of the cozy before everything and everyone takes flight?
