By Thought Alone
This is an excerpt from the weekly News-Loveletter. If you would like it sent to your inbox directly (with all the other juicy bits, including a mini joy practice), you can add yourself to my mailing list here.
“How would you walk if you thought this walk created your reality?” Dr. Joe asked us, a group of 1500+ folks wrapped in rain jackets and blankets. We stepped out into a light drizzle as our future selves, carrying his voice in our earbuds, poised as a flock, hands over hearts.
Walking, he urged us to expand our feelings of ecstasy, drumbeats pulsing as our hearts opened in meditation. People rose from their wheelchairs, set walkers aside, took their first steps in decades. I kid you not. My preconceived limitations fell away and new thoughts surfaced. Swept up in the positive vibration, I felt hot tears of joy meeting the cool mist on my cheeks.
We have the opportunity to shape our experiences, our bodies, and our future by thought alone. How clean is your thinking? A part of me pledges to keeps an eye on this, swimming up and down the length of my inner monologues and gobbling up wayward thoughts. This little observer reminds me of the tiny remora fish that clean sharks’ teeth. Now, that’s an image you won’t forget! Let all that does not serve go back to the Earth and create things that serve; I bless and release.
My roommate, Justina Gioia, at the Dispenza retreat (a perfect fit, and we’d never met) said, “Every time I stress over something like this, I trade my immune system for that thing.” In the Joy Collective, we agreed that this insight is a profound take away.
What thoughts are you willing to trade your wellness for? How actively do you stand sentinel when thoughts lead to feelings you don’t enjoy? What is the wholeness you are walking toward and how does that feel?
