What’s the practice?

I’m going to invite you to feel into the uncomfortable sensation of unmet needs, holding yourself with compassion. Then I’m going to show you how transform your experience, to one of wholeness and flow. Leading by example, I’ll help you connect with the precious needs beneath your pain. Attuning to these universal needs, I’ll invite you to sense into wholeness, so that you may value your entire experience.

Why is this beneficial?

When we connect with our body, we build trust that it’s safe to feel, even if just a little at a time. This is empowering. Being afraid to feel can consume our energy like nothing else. Learning to feel into the universal need beneath pain can help us transform our experience to one of recognition, awe, and wonder. We are listening to ourselves and proving that our needs matter. Our witnessing awareness of body-sensations helps us move from high beta to low beta or alpha brain waves. As we shift attention to the wholeness of the need, endorphins are released, and we feel better. The systems of our body regulate, coordinate, and integrate when we focus in a felt sense on wholeness. This improves our emotional and cognitive functioning as well as overall health and well-being.

The affects don’t end there! All beings regulate together. When we make the time to align with what matters, we improve our health and well-being, and then others can attune to that wellness when they are off-kilter. Intentionally cultivating wellness in ourselves supports all beings.

Get Ready …

Prepare yourself:

It may be helpful to reference this list of universal needs, generously offered by NVC Certified Trainer, Miki Kashtan. We go into what universal needs are and how they are determined in the Compassionate Communication (a.k.a. Nonviolent Communication or NVC) series. I’m getting them to you in the flow with what I’m offering. If you have questions afterward, don’t hesitate to drop me a line.
